Direct Marketing With Business Cards

Most people are not aware that their business card is a marketing vehicle capable of moving vast quantities of targeted traffic to their web-sites and even to their brick-and-mortar stores.  Most figure their card to be nothing more than a convenient way of passing on contact information, but nothing could be further from the truth.

The truth is, almost everyone will accept a business card because of the tradition that has built up around them over the last 150 – 200 years.  The fact is, business cards come in under the radar of normal direct marketing because of this very fact of tradition.  So if everyone accepts them, why are they not used to help draw more prospects?

The simple answer is: They are too small to do much with.  But that is actually not true, there are many things that can be done with the lowly business card to make it a true marketing vehicle.  While it is true you are not going to put long form direct marketing copy on a 3.5 inch by 2 inch card, there are some very interesting tricks you can do to make your card have real magnetic drawing power. Here are a few tips:

- Don’t put your contact information on the “front” of the card, instead make the “front” a “call to action to go to your web-site.”

- Always use both sides of your card unless, of course, you are passing out magnetic cards.  In that case use “double-wide” magnets so you can put some laser directed copy along with your contact info.  Now that card will be on the refrigerator creating constant “top of mind” visibility!

- Learn Hypnotic Copywriting techniques and use power words these can create that “Sense of command” in your prospects that will get them to go to your site.

- Get multi-fold Business Cards and use all four sections to create more powerful copy.

There are dozens of even more powerful techniques I talk about in my practical guide for Business Cards.  Look for more of my articles on how to use your Business Card to create new streams of traffic for your business!
